KENYAS’ HEALTH SECTOR GETS A BLOW

The goal of every national government under the sun is to have a good health system in place. This has attracted a number of partnerships among governments. Bilateral talks have been sought after and national governments have spent much trying to mend broken glasses. The good thing is that more than often , nation states travel and bag with them a number of signed bilateral agreements .

It goes without saying that Kenya in the same process has signed a number of agreements in the medical field with nations such as the United States and India among others. This is done with a goal to improve the medical field and service delivery to the citizens.

However despite the allocation from the national cake and donors, the sector still remains underfunded and underequipped. Procurement of medical machines and equipments have resulted into scandals that have remained unresolved . The latest Afya scandal has involved a number of key personalities and it’s quite sad how people die as victims walk scot free.

The United States has however taken stern action in regards to the Afya scandal in which the Kenyan government hasn’t responded to. The Trumps’ regime has since decided to cut funds allocated to the ailing nationals’ medical sector.  With the move in place , the Kenyatta regime has strongly criticized the move by the United States to withdraw part of their funding in accordance to what they term as resulted by the inability of the government to submit reports of how they spent money allocated to the sector.

Kenya has seriously been hit by corruption allegations and the move is just as a result of this.
